Length-to-Diameter Ratio (L/D Ratio)

Generally ranges from 20:1 to 30:1. For heat-sensitive plastics like PVC, the L/D ratio is usually between 20:1 and 25:1. This ensures sufficient plasticization while reducing the residence time of materials in the barrel to lower the risk of decomposition.

Compression Ratio

Typically falls between 3.5:1 and 4.5:1. A larger compression ratio facilitates full plasticization and compaction of PVC materials.

Screw Channel Depth

The screw channel is relatively shallow, especially in the metering section. This design reduces the residence time of materials and minimizes the possibility of decomposition.

Number of Heating and Cooling Zones

Varies based on screw diameter and equipment specifications, usually ranging from 5 to 6 zones. For example, a single-screw extruder with a 65mm screw diameter may have 6 heating and cooling zones to enable precise temperature control in each segment.

Screw Speed

The speed range needs to be adjusted according to the specific screw diameter and production requirements. For a φ65mm screw, when producing pipes with a 3mm wall thickness, the recommended speed is controlled within the range of 25-35rpm.

Drive Power

Related to screw diameter and output. For example, a single-screw extruder with a 65mm screw diameter typically has a drive power of 45-90kw.

Operating Temperature

The temperature of the feeding section is generally 160-170℃, the melting section is 180-190℃, and the die head section is 175-185℃.
